McDaniel College Budapest – Pre-Med Alumni Newsletter No.15
Dear Pre-Med Alumni Members,
We have just reached the end of the 36th academic year of the Pre-Med Program. Altogether, 400 students from 45 different countries successfully completed the program.
Five years ago, we launched the Award of Excellence Program, which provides a 10% tuition fee refund to our highest-achieving students. This academic year, nine students received this award in recognition of their outstanding performance.
The new academic year will begin on 1 September 2026, and applications are still welcome. We look forward to meeting both new and familiar faces. In recent years, we have been delighted to welcome many second-generation students, as well as siblings and friends of our alumni members.
Pre-Med Alumni Activities in 2026
- Continuing to collect contact information and reconnect with former students.
- Expanding our Alumni Network through LinkedIn and connecting with alumni around the world.
- Publishing Alumni Portraits on our website. During this semester, seven medical professionals shared their inspiring stories. We invite you to read them and would be grateful if you would consider sharing your own story as well.
- Visiting Dr. Christos Chinopoulos, MD, PhD, DSc, Associate Professor at the Institute of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Semmelweis University, together with 20 students who achieved excellent first-semester results.
- Holding in-person and online meetings with alumni visiting Budapest as tourists or attending international conferences.
- Hosting an online lecture by Dr. Vassilis Pitsinis, MD, PhD, FRCS (Eng.), FEBS (Breast Surgery), Consultant Breast Oncoplastic Surgeon and Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Dundee School of Medicine.
- Organizing a series of lectures and a workshop in Budapest led by Dr. Steiner Tidhar, host of the Malfovar Webinars and founder of the Malfovar Academy.
- Hosting Alumni Day – Science Afternoon on 26 February 2026 at McDaniel College Budapest, featuring presentations by Pre-Med alumni, physicians, and students from Semmelweis University.
- Supporting Semmelweis University through collaboration on alumni initiatives and projects.
